So when I say I watch Glee what I mean is I: watch all the scenes with Mercedes, Sam, Santana, Brittany, Kurt, and Blaine. I wish for more Tina and Mike. I skip everything Rachel and Finn. Mr. Schuester is the worst teacher I have ever seen and as someone who may be a teacher in the near future, I AM APPALLED. Also, TROUBLETONES SHOULD HAVE WON.  roxanneritchi: okay like just ftr thanks to...

Malaria Monsters: On Up All Night →
weirdgasm:  I really, really want to like Up All Night because it’s one of the few vehicles for Maya Rudolph that she has a fully built persona and isn’t just the supportive friend or just the wife/girlfriend of a lead character. Just like the poster above, I was just completely floored by the overt usage of racial stereotypes for comic effect that just came off as lazy and completely...

Being racist is not being crazy, people. →
iamabutchsolo: In class today we were talking about all of these cases of race-infused violence in the south during the Civil Rights Movement, and Emmett Till came up. And of course we talked about how brutal his murder was - he was beaten, shot in the head, drowned, one of his eyes was gouged out. There was a quiet in the room as we all took in the sheer amount of superfluous physical violence...

Sooo, I don’t have Wonderfalls on DVD (I know, I know, what is wrong with me? I just spent my itsy bitsy disposable income on buying the first issue of Kima Wa Petto—my first manga ever; don’t know how it’s gonna go, but I adore the jdorama, so—so I have none left for Wonderfalls) so Pushing Daisies marathon! It was supposed to be Shut Up Flower Boy Band ‘cause...

I’ve taken to calling US American productions that feature an older woman with a younger man “US American noona romances.” Like How Stella Got Her Groove Back? US American noona romance. Prime? US American noona romance.  Yup.

IN DEFENSE OF LIZ LEMON →
I am enjoying the hell out of this season of 30 Rock, and I approve the hell out of Liz’s hot boyfriend.  Excerpts:  “That has always been one of the most radical things about “30 Rock,” the way it has continually punctured Liz’s image of herself as a spunky brunette underdog. Early on, she went to her high-school reunion and discovered that she had not in fact been the overlooked...

On Up All Night
Or, I’m Sorry Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph, I Just Can’t I had my first misgivings about Up All Night when I watched “New Car,” the fourth episode of the first season in which the couple buy a used car from a Native American man. It showcased all the narrative stereotypes about Native Americans, and didn’t even try to do so ironically, which for some folks makes said...

Excerpt: PORTO VELHO, Brazil, Feb 21, 2012 (IPS) - Pierre was in the next-door country of Dominican Republic when the January 2010 earthquake destroyed half of Port-au-Prince and killed at least 200,000 of his fellow Haitians, including his wife and his mother. His two sons, ages 13 and 14, survived. He left them with friends when he came to Brazil. But his tragedy did not end there. His...

Excerpt: Richmond, Virginia - A bill requiring a woman to get an ultrasound before having an abortion is poised to pass Virginia’s legislature this week, placing it on track to be signed into law by Gov. Bob McDonnell. The bill, which could pass the Republican-led House of Delegates as early as Tuesday, is one of the stronger ultrasound laws passed by states in recent years. If it is adopted,...
